Natural Flea Remedies July 21, 2009 |
| Dear Fellow Dog Lover,
Summertime can bring fleas and if you’ve ever dealt with ridding your house of those you don’t want to repeat the experience. Luckily, there are a lot of ways you can prevent fleas without putting pesticides all over your dog, house and yard. Neem Oil is one of them. Neem oil is a natural insecticide. It originates in Southeast Asia and over 4,000 years ago locals found that crushing up the leaves from the plant and rubbing it on their skin helped keep insects away. It’s effective against fleas, ticks, mites (mange) and supports the immune system and helps your pet have healthy skin and fur. Neem oil is made from grinding up those leaves and studies show it’s used as an insecticide spray for crops as an alternative to harmful pesticides. You can use it on Fido by spraying a diluted version of the essential oil on him while combing his fur. You can also find it in some pet shampoos.
