Baggins' Bites: Pup Rescue
April 19, 2011
Dear Dog Lover,

Jen here from www.all-natural-dog-treat.com and since last week was Happy Volunteer Appreciation Week I want to send a special "thank you" to everyone who’s volunteered at an animal shelter over the years or fostered dogs.

I’m so glad you’re there and willing to donate your time, love, attention, homes, skills and everything else it takes to reassure our furry friends that they’re worth it.

We had a few sweet stories shared over on the Facebook page but I’d love to hear more of them. They make me smile even if they sometimes do bring tears to my eyes. :)

Just click on the below link and it’ll take you right to the Facebook page to share your stories.

Please “like” it for regular updates. I love getting to know you all over there! Share your doggie rescue stories with us on Facebook

Reader’s Write:

Last month I shared reader Judy's experience at discovering imported pet toys might be contaminated with rat poison.

Why? Because they're crossing the oceans in ship cargo holds which are often filled with rats!

Here's some of the reader's comments:

"I was looking at toys one day and saw that many of them said keep out or the reach of children, What! Who would buy a dog toy that wasn't safe for a child?" Via email

"Also, "tennis" type balls sold in pet stores could have high concentrations of poisonous chemicals such as lead or sprays such as what Judy encountered. I was told by a veterinarian that it is always best to buy tennis balls made for tennis players that are sold in the cans to play ball with your dogs."
