Baggins' Bites What Else Can You Feed Your Dog? April 10, 2007 |
| Dear Fellow Dog Lover, The pet food recall keeps growing. As of April 2, ANOTHER pet food company has recalled it’s dog, cat and ferret treats because of fears of salmonella poisoning. Dingo Chick' N Jerky, Dingo Kitty Chicken Jerky and Dingo Ferret Chicken Jerky treats sold at Target, Petsmart and other stores are on this recall. Think of it, salmonella, melamine (a type of plastic attributed to causing kidney failure) what’s next?
If you’re one of the millions of people questioning what you’re now feeding your animals it’s time to take a look at other options. In previous issues of Baggins’ Bites', I’ve discussed Dr. Pitcairn’s book, he's one of the world’s authorities on healthy animals from the inside out and a huge fan of home-prepared meals. He simplifies the process and features recipes in his book Dr. Pitcairn's New Complete Guide to Natural Health for Dogs and Cats
Kitchen Mix-InsIf you’re not quite ready to go all the way with a home-prepared diet, you can get started by adding lightly cooked veggies to your pet’s regular food and maybe some chicken broth. Even cottage cheese can be mixed in with your dog’s food for extra protein.
