With bananas and shredded carrots, this doggie muffin packs some good-for-you nutrients into your pooch.
Ingredients:
2 cups whole wheat flour
2 cups regular flour
2 carrots
2 3/4 cups water
1 egg
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons honey
1 banana (overripe and mashed up)
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 tablespoon cinnamon
Directions:
Using the shredding blade of a food processor, shred the carrot.
Mix all wet ingredients together in a bowl, then add
the mashed banana. Mix together thoroughly.
In a separate bowl, combine the dry ingredients. Add the wet ingredients to the dry and mix thoroughly.
Coat a 12 muffin pan with nonstick
spray. Fill each muffin section 3/4 full. Bake about 45 min to 1
hour at 350 degrees. Check after 40 minutes by placing a toothpick or knife blade in the center of a muffin. If it comes out wet, they need to continue baking.
Option:You could also make these mini-muffins by using mini muffin tins.
Bananas are packed with potassium an essential nutrient to maintaining the essential fluids in your body.
Some dogs like bananas raw. If yours does, you can feed those as a treat too. I once knew a schnauzer crazy for bananas!
Of course, carrots are rich in vitamin A and some studies show they may reduce the risk of cancer. When not eating a Banana Carrot Muffin Dog Treat, my dog Sammy likes his carrots slightly cooked. :)
