Carrot Cheese Puffs
Dog Treat Recipe

Fantom is a retired Lowchen showdog living in Canada

This Carrot Cheese Puffs Dog Treat Recipe was rated 4 paws up by the dogs in my life :)

*I modified it on June 5, 2011 from an earlier version that included a 1/4 cup of butter and milk.

Carrot Cheese Puffs Dog Treat Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup cheddar cheese—shredded
  • 1 jar baby food carrots (organic or natural—avoid added salt or sugar)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • (optional)

    Directions:
Mix baby food, flour, and garlic powder (if using). Stir until well blended. It'll be moist.

    Chill for one hour.

Roll dough on a lightly floured, flat surface to 1/4” thickness and use cookie cutters of your choice or just cut with a knife.

Place on a greased cookie sheet. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown (my oven runs hot). Cool completely.

Depending on how big you cut them, it'll make around 2 dozen.

Will last at room temp. for a few days, maybe a week. Refrigerate for longer lasting treats.

One thing people keep asking me about is what they should feed their pets.

Well, when Baggins was alive I fed him a mix of kibble and homemade food. His last months with cancer, he got a lot more homemade food.

Here's what veterinarian Dr. Jones recommends.
