Clarence Andrew the Lhasa-peke

by Korah-lynn Hiebert
(Canada)

Clarence is dog fo his character. He loves playing in the snow, going down the slide (he gets up there on his own)teasing the cats, and hogging the living room furniture. He is very sensitive, as he was TERRIFIED of people when i got him two years ago. We had another dog at the time which became his BFF and helped him to trust people. The other dog,Princey, was 10 at the time and has passed away this last summer of arthitis and she had a problem with retaining water. Clarence was hit hard by it all. He didn't eat right for a while. but now he has recovered and seems to be doing fine, although he still gets sad when you say Princey. Everything that was hers he has now claimed as his, incuding the position as lead dog and protector of the house. Clarence nowdoes GREAT with people of all ages although still a bit stand-off-ish.
I have a little cousin who is really scared of dogs, but she likes Clarence, when she comes over she likes to sit by Clarence, he is gentle with her so she just LOVES him but is still scared of other dogs. She doesn't like the dogs that come running up to her and start licking her and jumping on her and Clarence does the opposite, he waits for you to come to him. So they became friends right off. The pic is of Clarence on "his" chair with his new friend, we found for him this last summer. He got quite attached to it and was sad when it left.
