My German Shepherd loves carrots and apples almost more than a meaty beef bone. My ancient escapee mutt refuses to eat fruits and veggies unless they are mixed with meat. My mutt pup enjoys carrots and apples.
As for frosting, try honey and stevia ( I love stevia sweetened ice tea) (ed. note: not sure about stevia for dogs. I'd stick to plain yogurt)
