Parmesan Herb Dog Treats

Fresh herbs have many health benefits. For example, oregano has antibacterial qualities. So, you can think of it as a little boost next time your dog eats something weird in the yard or on the street ;)

Parmesan Herb Dog Treats
Ingredients:

1 Pkg. Dry Yeast
1 C. Cracked Wheat
1/2 C. Rye Flour
1 C. Wheat Flour
2 Tsp. Minced Garlic
1 Tsp. Oregano
1/2 C. Powdered Milk
1/2 c. Parmesan Cheese
2 Tbl. Olive Oil
1/2 C. Warm Water
1/2 C. Rice Flour
2 TBl. Parsley
2. C. Chicken Broth (low sodium or homemade)

For the Glaze
1 Egg
1 Tbl. Milk

Directions: In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in water. Add broth, oil, cheese, dry milk, and herbs. Gradually blend in the flours and cracked wheat. Add enough wheat flour to form a stiff dough. Transfer to a floured surface and knead until smooth. Shape the dough into a ball and roll to 1/2 in. thick. Cut out treats in desired shapes.

Place on ungreased baking sheets about 1/4 in. apart. Bake at 325 for 45 min. Remove from oven.

In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and milk for the glaze. Brush the biscuits with glaze, turn and brush other side. Bake for another 30 minutes.
