Homemade Dog Food --Make Your Dogs a Chicken Dinner for Their Health
Reader D. Tafrow shares this recipe for homemade dog food. Thanks!
I wanted to share an easy recipe I have been using as a supplement to kibble for years now.
My Mastiff is going to be 10 soon and still acts like a very healthy energetic pup, as well as my Great Dane.
Easy Homemade Dog Food Recipe
1. I buy the large pack of chicken thighs when on sale
2. Skin them and add the entire pack to a large pan with raw carrots and fresh parsely.
3. I slow cook everything on the stove for about an hour.
While that's cooking I microwave a large sweet potato.
4. After everything cools, I bone the chicken and process in a food processor with the carrots and all the juices. To this I add a handful of walnuts, a couple tablespoons of wheat germ, a few tablespoons of olive oil and the cooked sweet potato. I process for a minute in the food processor until smooth.
One batch lasts about 8 or 9 days and I'm giving some to all 3 of my dogs. They love it!! Also, we all share an apple after each dinner.
Sounds totally healthy there D.!
Apples, carrots, walnuts with omega 3 fatty acids. Great work. Thanks for sharing this dog food recipe :)
