Homemade Dog Treats

Homemade Dog Treats are easy to make and better for your pet than most commercial treats.

Add Healthy Ingredients

You can load up on healthy ingredients like shredded carrots or flaxseeds when you're making dog treats at home.

Why? Veggies are just as important for Fido as for you.

And flaxseeds pack a nutritious punch of omega 3's which protect against arthritis, heart disease and cancer and give your dog a beautiful and shiny coat.

St Bernard

Whether you want to alleviate allergies in your dog or just offer her a healthy treat, baking dog treats at home gives you a handle on what you're feeding your pet.

Plus, you can save money!!

You can control the contents of your homemade treats and won't be feeding your furry friend gross animal parts found in some commercial treats. Blech!:-(

Let's Bake!

Here's a classic treat recipe that your dog will sit up and beg for.

The Basic Biscuit
Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup nonfat dry milk

  • 1 egg—well beaten

  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 1/4 cups wheat flour

  • 1/2 cup water

  • 6 tablespoons beef broth

  • 2 jars baby food, beef, strained

  • Directions:
Combine ingredients and shape into ball. Roll out on floured cutting board. Shape into circles using an upside down glass or cookie cutter of your choice.. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 min. Cool. These treats will harden. You can brush with an egg glaze afterwards for an little extra "something".

egg glaze-one egg, beaten with a tablespoon of water.

Brush on after treats have hardened.

Note: You can use organic ingredients and make your dog treats even more clean and healthy.

If you haven't baked for your dog before, try it today and see how excited he gets. Believe it or not, your dog will appreciate a home made treat and he'll know the difference!

    More Homemade Dog Treats

It can be cheaper and more fun to take control over what your pet eats. Happy Baking!
