An Oatmeal Dog Treat is Tasty and Healthy for Your Dog

Oatmeal dog treats are easy to make. They keep for 2-3 months in the fridge, freeze beautifully and dogs love ‘em. You can add shredded carrots or flaxseeds if you want to boost their nutritional value.

Plus, oatmeal itself is healthy.

4 Benefits of Oatmeal for Dogs:

1--It’s a complex carbohydrate, which means it keeps you fuller longer and stabilizes blood sugar.

2--It’s a good source of fiber. It can help keep your dog “regular”.

3--For dogs who are sensitive or allergic to wheat, it’s a good alternative –just replace the wheat flour with oat flour. Oats are low in gluten.

4—It’s high in protein. (Wild oats are about 27-37% protein. Cultivated oats have around 17% protein).

The World Health Organization says oat protein is equivalent to the protein in meat and eggs.

Oats Are a Tonic for the Body

Veterinarian Dr. Pitcairn, says oats are a natural tonic.

They can benefit dogs suffering from epilepsy, tremors, twitching and paralysis.

Oats are also healthy for a dog with serious diseases like cancer and on heavy medications.

Here’s why. Oats cleanse the body and encourage new tissue growth. This can help your dog detox and stimulate new (healthy) cells to grow.
