Pumpkin Dog Treat Recipes
Over the years I've made a lot of dog treats and I find pumpkin dog treat recipes to be easy and packed with good for you beta carotene for your dogs.
Wheat Free Too
Here's one I've recently developed using a bean flour. Why?
Because I get so many emails from you telling me your dog is allergic to wheat.
Really! I've lost track how many of you have wheat intolerant dogs, poor things.
So, I'm revamping exisiting recipes and experimenting with grain free dog treats for your furry friends.
Pumpkin Pupcakes Dog Treat Recipe
One 15 oz. can mashed pure pumpkin (NOT the spiced pie filling)
3/4 cup garbanzo & fava bean flour
1/2 cup dry powdered milk
I mixed all the ingredients together with a hand mixer. The pumpkin makes it really wet so it mixes in a snap. Then, I spooned them into mini muffin tins. (I also tried the pastry bag to squirt them into the mini muffin tins. You could do either one.)
Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes.
This makes 24 mini muffins.
How to store?: These lasted 4 days on my kitchen counter before they got moldy. They're really wet due to the pumpkin so if you want to keep them longer, I recommend the refrigerator.
Optional: you could skip the powdered milk and just make up the difference with more of the flour. They'll come out fine.
Since they're so wet, if you have a dog who's having trouble with dry food/treats, these make a great option.
